  • Private car or van with a driver guide is assumed for transfers. Add one scenic train where noted.
  • Plan climbs and walks early morning. Keep village visits and safaris for late afternoon.
  • Families should pick pool stays and keep transfers to 2 to 4 hours where possible.
  • Use the season swaps if you travel April to September for the east coast or November to April for the south and west.

7 Days

7D Classic Highlights. Best year round

  1. Day 1 Arrive and drive to Sigiriya via Dambulla caves. Pidurangala sunset.
  2. Day 2 Sigiriya sunrise climb. Polonnaruwa cycling for 3 hours with tea stop. Overnight near Sigiriya or Habarana.
  3. Day 3 Minneriya or Kaudulla evening safari in season. Morning village lake and lunch. Drive to Kandy late afternoon.
  4. Day 4 Kandy Temple of the Tooth and gardens. Scenic train to Nanu Oya. Tea estate stay near Nuwara Eliya.
  5. Day 5 Short walk or factory tour. Continue by road to Ella for Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak.
  6. Day 6 Drive to Udawalawe. Dawn or afternoon safari for elephants. Continue to the south coast.

  8. Day 8 Train to Ella segment or drive via tea viewpoints.

  • December to May Adam’s Peak works for fit travellers who enjoy early starts.
