Sri Lanka Velo Adventure — 7 Nights / 8 Days
A ride-forward itinerary that blends dawn heritage rides in the Cultural Triangle, tea-country rollers, a safari in Udawalawe, and a relaxed finish on the south coast.
Route
Airport → Habarana → Sigiriya → Polonnaruwa → Dambulla → Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Haputale → Udawalawe → (Godakawela / Rakwana / Kalawana) → Bentota / Galle.

7 nights / 8 days • Private, support vehicle on ride days • Hybrid/MTB or e-bike on request.

- Tea country: rolling with a few steady climbs
- Rakwana → Kalawana: scenic ridge descent
Day-by-day plan
Day 1 • Airport → Habarana — arrival & village experience
Meet & greet, drive to Habarana. Afternoon authentic village experience with bullock cart, catamaran/tuk-tuk and traditional lunch cooked fresh. Overnight Habarana.
In season (Jul–Sep) you can add an evening Minneriya/Kaudulla elephant safari.
Day 2 • Habarana ↔ Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa — sunrise rock & heritage ride (~40 km)
- Sunrise climb of Sigiriya (optional after breakfast).
- Cycling: Bakamuna → Giritale (~40 km; mostly flat, rural backroads). Transfer to Polonnaruwa ruins & Gal Vihara. Overnight Habarana.
Day 3 • Habarana → Dambulla → Matale → Kandy — cave temples & easy hills (~45 km)
- Dambulla Cave Temple visit.
- Cycling: Bakamuna → Naula → Matale (~45 km; gentle rolling).
- Stop at Matale Herbal Garden, then Kandy city orientation & cultural dance. Overnight Kandy.
Day 4 • Kandy — Temple of the Tooth & Peradeniya loop (~40 km)
- Temple of the Tooth Relic and lakeside.
- Cycling: Kandy Hospital → Galaha → Peradeniya (~40 km; tea-country lanes). Royal Botanical Gardens visit. Overnight Kandy.
Day 5 • Kandy → Nuwara Eliya — climb to tea (~40 km)
- Cycling: Peradeniya → Galaha → Gampola (~40 km; ~490 m ascent).
- Tea-factory tour & tasting; transfer to Nuwara Eliya. Overnight Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6 • Nuwara Eliya → Haputale — high-country roller (~40 km)
- Cycling: Nuwara Eliya → Keppatipola → Boralanda → Haputale (~40 km; cool tea-estate roads).
- Ambewela Dairy Farm stop; quieter vistas around Lipton’s Seat / Adisham (time permitting). Overnight Haputale.
Day 7 • Haputale → Udawalawe — Diyaluma Falls & evening safari
- Scenic descent via Beragala; Diyaluma Falls stop (optional pools trek).
- Evening 4×4 safari in Udawalawe National Park. Overnight Udawalawe.
Day 8 • Udawalawe → Godakawela → Rakwana → Kalawana → Coast — rainforest ride (~35 km)
- Cycling: Godakawela → Kalawana (~35 km; ~600 m↑ / 500 m↓; tea & rubber country; views toward Sinharaja).
- Continue to the south coast: stilt fishermen & Galle Fort walk. Tour ends or extend beach stay.
Included
- Air-conditioned vehicle with English-speaking chauffeur-guide throughout.
- Ride leader on cycling days; helmets; support vehicle on non-city rides.
- Entrance fees listed in the program (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Temple of the Tooth, Peradeniya, Yala/Train where applicable).
- One jeep safari (per program) and reserved train ride (per program).
